My process begins with a careful selection of timber, ensuring sustainability and a connection to the surrounding environment. I then employ a combination of traditional woodworking techniques and contemporary design principles to create items that are not only functional but also works of art. From small, delicate keepsake boxes to quirky designs, each piece is crafted with precision and attention to detail. I am particularly drawn to the challenge of creating a tactile surface, ensuring that each piece is a pleasure to hold as well as use.
Beyond my timber craft, I have also designed a range of earrings, each reflecting the unique flora and fauna of the Margaret River, Yallingup regions. These earrings are more than just accessories; they are miniature works of art, capturing the essence of our local environment. From the delicate curves of native stingrays to the intricate patterns of the local birds, each design is carefully considered.
My artistic journey is constantly evolving, and I have recently begun exploring the realm of visual art. While still a relatively new endeavour, my bags and t-shirts are an extension of my passion for creativity and incorporate elements of the natural world, drawing inspiration from the flora, fauna and beauty of the southwest. While timber craft is my focus, this new avenue allows me to explore different mediums.
