Jewellery and Ring Boxes

Making jewellery boxes is where my art began.

I made the first ones for my children when they were little, and interest grew - at first through family and friends, and then through word-of-mouth.

I was then asked to make a small, convenient wedding ring case to hold the rings for the big day. I knew immediately it was a nice item, and I now offer variations on it: single cases for engagement rings or for those who wear just one ring and deeper double ones for those who tend to wear several rings. Every box is individually crafted from start to finish from selected timber that differs in pattern, colour, and texture, making each one unique and special.

At craft fairs I am especially drawn to that profound moment of realisation when a ring box suddenly becomes so much more than its simple form. It's a powerful feeling and one that I often see reflected when people are viewing my work. Out of all the things I make I like these little boxes the most. For me, this single item exemplifies my woodcraft to perfection.
