Wooden Art
In addition to my boxes, I make a small range of unique and original wooden designs. Functionality plays an important role in my work and ideas often come about through the need for something practical, sometimes in quite unexpected ways.
When I first started making boxes, I thought I should use magnets to hold them closed, so I acquired some. It turned out they were far too strong and not needed at all and I ended up using them to hold tools in the workshop, and one day I simply hung my keys from one of them. That small, unplanned moment led to the creation of an interesting item and encouraged me to follow ideas to see where they might lead.
Another important source of inspiration, and quite possibly the best one, comes from the people I speak with. Sometimes a product is misunderstood, and that misunderstanding leads to something new. Some of these ideas work and some do not, but all of them lead somewhere and hearing comments and compliments on my work is also a strong source of inspiration.
